The survey was conducted by Bito and Benchmarkit in September 2023 to find out how software development teams are using AI now, how they foresee using it, and how it can benefit them.
Over 700 developers, engineering managers, and leaders took part in the survey, which encompassed organizations from SME startups with upto $10Mn in revenue to businesses with over $1bn in revenue.
Software Teams Make Big Moves Towards AI Adoption
42% of survey participants are already using AI in their software development process, and 30% are currently experimenting.
Highly Effective Teams at the Forefront of AI Adoption
45% of highly effective teams around the world are actively using AI for software development. Ineffective teams are barely using AI with only 16% of them seems to be adopted so far.
Engineering Leaders Recognize Multiple Benefits of AI Adoption
Engineering leaders rated AI’s primary benefits as improved code quality, accelerated understanding of their codebase and developer job satisfaction.
